The Health Information Technology Program consists of the first two years of the program that result in an Associate of Science degree in Health Information Technology. Professionals who work in health information technology focus on the technical side (digital formats) of managing health information. They work with software and hardware that stores patient data. These professionals provide support for electronic health records and other systems that Health Information Management professionals use to secure information. While many health information technicians will work in hospitals, they are also employed in other healthcare settings that include office-based physician practices, skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, mental health facilities and public health agencies.
