Student Success Completion Grant
In 2017, Senate Bill 85 initiated a new grant program for community college students. The Student Success Completion Grant supports the persistence, retention and success of students attending community college.
Eligibility
- Must be receiving a Cal B or C Grant and enrolled full time in Title IV fundable classes (12+ units or 9+ units with a Pace accommodation).
- Must be in good standing with the colleges SAP standards.
- If you become ineligible due to not meeting SAP, you must go through the process.
- Must complete all units required for your major, successfully, every semester.
- Must be declared a California Resident (CAR) or AB540 with Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ.
How to Apply for this Grant
Student Success Completion Grant is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Even if a student meets all of the criteria, they may not get the grant.
- Submit your or by March 2nd.
- Complete any requested verification steps with the Financial Aid Office as soon as possible.
- Enroll in 12+ units, or 9+ units with a Pace accommodation, in only classes required for your educational goal.
- Stay on pace to complete your educational goal
Annual Award Amounts
- 12-14.99 units = $2,596 ($1,298 per primary semester)
- 15+ units = $8,000 ($4,000 per primary semester)
- Foster Youth and former Foster Youth: 12+ units = $10,500 ($5,250 per primary semester)
- Pace Students with and accommodation to be considered full-time at 9 units will receive $2,596 ($1,298 per primary semester) when enrolled in 9-14.99 units.
- Funds are limited and awards are not guaranteed.
Timeline of Awarding and Disbursements
Due to the Cal Grant eligibility requirement, awards will not be disbursed until after your classes reach their census. See the disbursement schedule page for information on disbursement timelines.
Semester Award Amounts
- 12-14.99 Units = $1,298 per primary semester.
- 15+ units = $4,000 per primary semester.
- Foster Youth and Former Foster Youth: 12+ units = $5,250 per primary semester.
- PACE Students with a reduced course load accommodation to be considered full-time at 9 units will receive $1,298 per primary semester, when enrolled in 9-14.99 units.
Summary of Annual Award Amounts
- 24-29.99 units per academic year = up to $2,596.
- 30+ units per academic year = up to $8,000.
- Foster Youth and former Foster Youth: 24+ units per academic year = up to $10,500.
- PACE Students with a reduced course load accommodation to be considered full-time at 9 units per semester: 18-29.99 units per academic year = up to $2,596.
Please note summer units will not count in academic year totals for this end of academic year awarding, only fall then spring of the same academic year.
Student Success Completion Grant
Formerly the Full Time Student Success Grant and the California Community College Completion Grant as of Fall-2018.
Senate Bill 85 was signed by Governor Newson in 2017 and implemented for the 2017/2018 academic year. The Chancellor’s Office worked closely with the Senate to streamline the implementation of both the Full Time Student Success Grant and the California Community College Completion Grant, which resulted in the Student Success Completion Grant.
The Student Success Completion Grant provides additional assistance to students who are attending at a 15 unit per term pace or a 30 unit per year pace and/or complete their programs in scheduled full-time timeframes.
